Pain Medication
Pharmacological treatment may be a part of your treatment at Center for Pain Management. If pain medication is prescribed as part of your treatment, you will be expected to safeguard your medication and comply with the other requirements of your Opioid Agreement. Pain medication can be very helpful in allowing you to continue to work, take care of your family and do other things that are important to you. They are not however a substitute for treatment approaches aimed at addressing the pain generator itself including nerve block injections and physical therapy. Failure to participate in the non-medication components of your treatment can result in discharge form the practice. Prescriptions are written only at face to face visits scheduled every 28 days. No prescriptions are written for more than a 30 day supply of opioid medications and no prescriptions will be called in to a pharmacy.
Opioid medications are not appropriate for all patients. For that reason there is no guarantee that a patient will receive a prescription(s) for pain medication(s) on their first visit. Patients are expected to complete an opioid agreement (PDF) before receiving such medication. This agreement outlines the requirements of our practice with respect to patient behavior and the guidelines by which a prescribing and/or patient-physician relationship is to be conducted and how either may be terminated.
