Center for Special Surgery

The Center for Special Surgery is located in the same Indianapolis building as Center for Pain Management and offers outpatient minor surgical procedures for pain conditions. Dr. Edward Kowlowitz, founder of Center for Pain Management, also founded the surgical center and operates it in conjunction with American Pain Consortium Holdings. For patients, this partnership between the clinic and surgery center means convenient access to multiple services under one roof: physician care, diagnostic imaging, surgical care, physical therapy, psychological services, and medication management.

Treatment at Center for Special Surgery

Physicians at the surgery center do not perform traditional back surgery (such as spinal fusions or laminectomies). Treatments are designed to be minimally invasive, with shorter recovery times than spinal surgeries.

Types of procedures commonly performed at the surgical center include:

  • Spinal cord stimulator implants
  • Radiofrequency ablation
  • Pain pump implants
  • Facet joint injections
  • Epidural injections

Patients must be seen at Center for Pain Management before visiting the surgery center.
